IMPACT Your World For Jesus Conference on October 10th



Cypress Church will hold a special conference on the topic -IMPACT Your World For Jesus- on Saturday, October 10th beginning at 8:30 am. Ask yourself these questions: Are you living the life God wants you to live? Are you fulfilling God's purposes for your life? How has your relationship with Jesus impacted your life? Are you leading a life of worship? How has your life impacted those around you?

The IMPACT Conference will help participants intentionally focus on truly leading a life of worship that will overflow into the lives of those around them. This event will be a time of worship, teaching, and fellowship that will change the way you view your life as Christian.

On Saturday morning, Pastor Steven Brooks will answer the question "What is worship? Chris Hay will teach about Upward Impact and developing a deeper relationship with God. Paul Mascarella is slated to share ideas about Inward Impact and show how to develop habits that lead to a life of worship. There will also be a session on Outward Impact to describe how your life of worship will serve to attract others to the Lord.

Lunch will be served by Dave Austin and the Knights of the Holy Grill. The Cypress Church Worship Band will lead songs of praise and worship throughout the day.

Afternoon sessions will include Intentional Conversational Evangelism and training on developing a One Minute personal testimony. Dick Horne will discuss the basics of -Coffee Napkin- one verse evangelism and Pastor Mike McKay will teach about the role of the Holy Spirit and prayer.

Fall Festival of Authors Luncheon on October 17th


Ever wonder what it would be like to sit down with an author and ask them about their books? Or get to know them personally while enjoying lunch together? Christian authors and readers from all across southern California will soon be doing just that - at the first Fall Festival of Authors Luncheon nearby at Cypress Church.

Guests will have the opportunity to mingle with the three featured speakers Kathi Macias, Athol Dickson, and Susan Titus Osborn, when doors open at 9:30 a.m. Morning refreshments (muffins, coffee, tea) will be ready, and are included in the price of the luncheon ticket, which offers a complete lunch of salad, quiche, dessert and selection of beverages.

In addition to the three special speakers, a variety of other Christian authors will be in attendance, each hosting one of the luncheon tables, and seated among the guests, ensuring a personal connection with an author!

Following the lunch, authors will display their books and other materials which will be available for purchase and signing. Each author will also be listed in the program directory, with contact information, and guests will be free to chat with them and pick up brochures about their writing and speaking ministries.

Susan Titus Osborn is an adjunct professor at several Christian universities and the director of the Christian Communicator Manuscript Critique Service where she heads a staff of 18 editors. She has authored 30 books, as well as numerous articles. Athol Dickson’s River Rising, was a Christy Award winner, and one of the Booklist Top Ten Christian Novels of 2006 and a finalist for Christianity Today's Best Novel of 2006. Athol won a second Christy Award with The Cure, picked by Christian Fiction Review as one of the Ten Best Novels of 2008. Kathi Macias is an Angel-award winning writer who has authored or co-authored nearly thirty books and part of the devotional writing team for Zondervan's New Women's Devotional Bible. Kathi and Susan are also both popular retreat speakers.

The event is for both men and women. ECLA, the Evangelical Church Library Association, Southern California Chapter, and the Women’s Ministry Team of Cypress Church are jointly sponsoring the luncheon. This unique, nondenominational event will be held Saturday, October 17th, 2009, at Cypress Church, 6143 Ball Road (just east of Valley View), from 9:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. Readers, aspiring writers, pastoral and church staff, lay ministry, home schooling parents, church librarians and church book club members from all over Southern California are all encouraged to attend.

Registration Open for Wednesday Night Rocks at Cypress Church



It's back-to-school time again and Cypress Church is accepting registrations for Wednesday Night Rocks. Spiritual training is a vital component of every child’s life and the church has many exciting programs for children of all ages on Wednesday evenings.

Awana Cubbies club for preschoolers is built on the premise that very young children can and should receive spiritual training. Wednesday meetings provide fun and lots of it. Games, puppets, crafts, awards and other activities transform this preschool program into a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand.

Sparks club meetings combine learning with fun to create an atmosphere of irresistible excitement for kids from all types of backgrounds. Children from Kindergarten through 2nd grade will enjoy Bible teaching, worship, award presentations, and fun games. Along the way, Sparky, the firefly, will encourage them to want to learn more about Jesus!

Amazing Journey reflects the passion of Awana to teach kids the truth of God's Word and train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. This program will train the leaders of tomorrow ...today. Children from 3rd through 6th grade will enjoy games, worship, Bible study, fellowship, awards and missions projects that will help the children see the world through God's eyes.

Simulcast of National Town Hall Meeting on September 11th at Cypress Church


On September 11th Joel C. Rosenberg and Lt.-General (ret.) Jerry Boykin, former commander of Delta Force, will host the simulcast of a national town hall meeting being held to discuss security threats to the United States and the future of Israel. The evening will include the showing of an excerpt from the documentary film Inside the Revolution. There will be a question and answer session and a time to pray for our nation.

Joel C. Rosenberg is the New York Times best-selling author of The Last Jihad, The Last Days, The Ezekiel Option, The Copper Scroll, Epicenter: How the Current Rumblings in the Middle East Will Change Your World, Dead Heat, and Inside the Revolution with more than two million copies in print. He is also the founder and president of the Joshua Fund, a nonprofit charitable and educational organization that provides humanitarian relief for victims of war and terrorism.

General Boykin is one of the elite warriors chosen in 1978 to make up the first unit in America’s Delta Force. He then became commander of the unit, and later still, commander of all U.S. Army Special Forces. His thirty-six years in the military included a tour at the C.I.A. and clandestine missions around the world.

The documentary film Inside the Revolution by Joel Rosenberg was filmed on location in Iraq, Turkey, Morocco, Israel, the United Kingdom, and Washington, D.C. Viewers are taken behind the scenes to learn about the history and impact of the Islamic Revolution that began in 1979 when the Ayatollah Khomeini seized power in Iran.

Cypress Church will be the local hosts for this national town hall meeting which will be simulcast from Philadelphia. The event will begin at 6:45 pm on Friday, September 11, 2009.
