Landell Carnival Raises Funds for Student Programs

Landell Elementary School held their annual carnival on Saturday, May 22nd to raise funds to enhance learning and provide additional programs for their students. The carnival was sponsored by the Landell PTA and staffed by volunteers from the community. The Cypress Church Knights of the Holy Grill prepared BBQ and burgers for the crowd of students, parents and Cypress area residents. There were games, prizes, music, a silent auction, drawings and loads of inflatable fun for kids and adults alike.

The carnival was held at the Margaret Landell Elementary School campus located at 9739 Denni Street in Cypress. PTA Board Member Kris Matsuda stated that the funds raised at this event will go to provide special assemblies for Landell students as well as art programs, science and book fairs and field trips. In previous years PTA has also provided advanced technology for students in the school classrooms.

The Landell PTA is a non-profit organization that is committed to positively impacting the lives of children. At Landell, the PTA and school staff team up to coordinate programs and events for the students, which provide additional experiences beyond the classroom. All programs and activities sponsored by PTA are coordinated by volunteers.

Landell School is highly rated and many parents and students appreciate the year-round schedule. Under the leadership of Principal Tracy Mouren-Laurens and hard work by staff and students the school has attained high academic ratings. Due to support from the PTA and community groups like the Knights of the Holy Grill the school is able to provide students with excellent educational experiences even during difficult economic times.

Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed Bible Study for Women at Cypress Church

Cypress Church is offering a new women’s Bible study beginning on Monday, June 7th at 7:00 p.m. The approach to this study is unique in that the study material will feature three different authors, from three generations with three perspectives. The title of the series is: *Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed.*

In this six week class, noted Bible teachers and authors Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer and Kay Arthur explore their lives and also the life of King David. The authors' messages are divided into three segments, two lessons each. Each DVD segment focuses on the life of David at different stages in his experience. There will be time during each class for discussion and questions.

The segments about David as a young man are taught by Priscilla Shirer. The lessons on David during middle age are taught by Beth Moore. Kay Arthur wraps ups the study with two classes on David as a man facing the final era of his life.

This Bible study for women will be held at the Cypress Church main campus located at 6143 Ball Road just east of Valley View. In order to better serve the community there will be two choices for class times. Each lesson will be offered on Monday evenings from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. The same segment will be taught again on Wednesday mornings (beginning June 9th) from 9 to 11 a.m. The study will continue on either Monday evening or Wednesday morning through July 14th.
